What We Are Going To Cover:
Veneers Vs Dentures: Treatment Approach
Both veneers and dentures have different treatment approaches, depending on the type that you choose. Veneers and dentures can be fitted quickly or over several appointments.
Veneers Treatment Approach
Your veneer treatment will vary depending on the type of veneer you choose. Currently, we offer porcelain, composite, and no-prep veneers. Each type and their treatment approach is outlined below:
Porcelain Veneers
- We begin with an assessment of your smile to ensure porcelain veneers are the right choice. Using our 3D printers and digital scanners, we can create your new smile based on your goals to ensure you are happy before proceeding.
- While we wait for your custom veneers to be created, we will fit you with temporary veneers. To do this, we must file some tooth enamel away, making more room in your mouth for your veneers. You might experience some discomfort while we do this.
- When your veneers are made, we invite you back to fit your permanent veneers. A dental adhesive is applied to cement your veneers in place, keeping them permanently in your mouth.

Composite Resin Veneers
- First, we will carry out a consultation to make sure composite resin veneers are right for you. We will take x-rays of your mouth and use our scanners to create the perfect veneers for your face and smile goals.
- Before your veneers are attached, we use a small drill to etch the front of your teeth. Doing so helps us bond the veneers to your teeth, but you might experience some discomfort while this happens.
- A resin is applied in thin layers directly to your teeth, where we can work with thin layers to sculpt it and create your perfect smile.
- To finish, we use UV light to harden the resin before polishing it to create natural teeth.

No-Prep Veneers
- To begin, we invite you for a consultation appointment to see if you are the right candidate for no-prep veneers, discussing the types that we offer. Impressions of your teeth are taken, which we use to create your veneers.
- When your veneers are ready, we can apply them directly to your teeth. For some customers, we need to score or etch the surface of your teeth, but this is nothing like the extensive filing needed for porcelain veneers.

Dentures Treatment Approach
Dentures come in three different types, which are all applied differently. We have outlined each treatment approach below:
Full Denture
- We begin with a consultation appointment to determine if a full denture is the right choice for you. Usually, you will have lost all of your teeth, and we can fit the denture into your lower, upper jaw, or both.
- If there are any extractions needed to remove teeth, we will do so now and allow your gums to heal before inserting the dentures.
- While we wait for your dentures to be created, we will fit you with temporary dentures that allow you to get used to the sensation before your custom ones arrive.
- When your custom dentures arrive, you will be invited back to have them installed. We will also show you how to fit and remove them and care for them properly.
Partial Denture
- To start, we will invite you in for a consultation where we will discuss your smile goals and decide if a partial denture is the right option for you. We recommend these to replace one or several missing teeth.
- Should any teeth need to be removed, we will do this now and allow your gums to heal before fitting your veneers.
- While your gums heal, impressions will be taken to create your custom dentures. It can take several weeks for these to be made, so we can fit you with temporary dentures in the meantime.
- When your dentures are ready, we will invite you back and show you how to fit your partial denture. We can offer guidance on cleaning and maintaining it, too.
Implant-Retained Denture
- We start with an initial consultation to discuss your smile goals and if an implant-retained denture is right for you. We can answer any questions and use our digital scanner to show you how your new smile would look.
- If you are happy, we will begin by removing any teeth that need to be removed and ensure the area is healthy for implantation. Next, we take our small titanium screws and attach them to your jaw.
- You will need to wait a few months for your jaw and gums to heal around the screw, creating a solid connection that resembles natural teeth roots.
- When you are ready, we can install your custom dentures, which will connect to the implants, preventing them from moving while you eat or talk.
Veneers Vs Dentures: Treatment Duration
Dentures typically take longer than veneers, especially if teeth need to be removed before your denture is fitted. While we do offer immediate dentures that can be fitted the same day, they won't offer the perfect fit the way custom dentures will.
Veneers Treatment Duration
How long your veneer treatment takes depends on the treatment option that you choose. No-prep and composite veneers are usually fitted quickly, with most customers visiting us once or twice. Porcelain veneers take longer, and you will have to visit us more frequently as we file your teeth and fit your temporary and permanent veneers.
When you arrive for your consultation, we will discuss the treatment length based on your specific needs.
Dentures Treatment Duration
Your denture treatment time is hard to predict without seeing your smile and your goals. It can take a few weeks for custom dentures to be made unless you opt for immediate dentures, which can be added the same day you arrive for treatment.
We allow longer for the entire treatment, as we might need to remove teeth for your denture to be fitted. When this happens, we need to allow the gums to fully heal before we can add your denture.
The process for implant-supported dentures is even longer, as we need to allow several months for your gums to heal and fuse around the implant before anchoring the dentures into position. When you arrive for your consultation, we can offer a more accurate timeframe for you to follow.
Veneers Vs Dentures: Technological Features
Veneers and dentures both benefit from the digital scanners that help us create your perfect smile and help you see how it will look before we get to work. While we have worked hard to create thinner porcelain for realistic veneers, our implant dentures help to provide a secure fit without needing to have them permanently attached to your jaw.
Veneers Technological Features
We use a few technological features to help create your dream smile with veneers:
Thin Porcelain
To provide you with the most realistic smile, we use thin porcelain. This doesn't take up much space in your mouth, reducing filing and providing you with a smile that does not seem fake or too big for your mouth.
Colour Precision
No one wants teeth that don't match, which is why we work tirelessly to provide you with a precise colour match. Doing so helps us to blend your veneers with your natural teeth to create a cohesive smile. If you are unhappy about the colour of your smile, we can look at whitening treatments before fitting the veneers.
3D Printing And Digital Scanning
Our digital scanners and 3D printers allow us to see a comprehensive view of your mouth. Doing so then helps us to create the perfect smile for your mouth.
Dentures Technological Features
Like with veneers, there are several technological features we can use to create your perfect dentures.
3D Digital Scanning
We can use our state of the art digital scanners to take in-depth images of your mouth, which will help us create the perfect denture. Doing so allows us to see how your new smile could look and make any adjustments to suit your needs. It also helps us to create accurate dentures that are perfefvt for your smile.
Secure Fit
With the use of implants, we can provide a more secure fit for your dentures than ever before. You won't need to rely on creams or pastes from pharmacies, but instead, clip your dentures into place without worrying about them moving while you talk or eat.
Veneers vs Dentures: Cost
Veneers and dentures both vary in price depending on the type that you choose. Overall, veneers tend to be the cheaper option. While dentures offer the flexibility of being removed, they will cost more and are considered more of an investment.

Veneers Vs Dentures: Aftercare
Dentures require more aftercare than veneers, mainly because they need to be removed and soaked overnight. Both veneers and dentures need to be brushed and cared for regularly, with regular dental checkups to ensure your new smile is still comfortable and functional.
Veneers Aftercare
Aftercare for all of our veneers is fairly similar. You should be able to eat and drink as normal afterwards and will care for them as you do natural teeth. You will need to brush and floss regularly and attend regular dental checkups to maintain good oral health and hygiene.
For no prep and composite veneers, we recommend switching to a non-abrasive toothbrush and avoiding hard-bristled brushes, as these can scratch the surface of the veneers, impacting their appearance and lifespan.
You can learn more about our veneer aftercare here to see how best to care for your new smile.
Dentures Aftercare
The aftercare process for dentures is a little more complex, but by following it closely, you can ensure that your dentures last for as long as possible. Make sure that you brush your dentures every morning and night. To do this, take your dentures out and use a denture cleaning brush or spare toothbrush to clean them, using liquid hand soap instead of toothpaste.
Your dentures should be soaked every day in a denture cleaning solution. We recommend doing this overnight so they are always fresh and ready for the day. You should also not wear your dentures to sleep, and if you are not soaking them, place them in a dry and empty container.
Like with any dental treatment, make sure you visit your dentist regularly for checkups. We can check that the denture is comfortable and fitting correctly, as well as checking your dental health and hygiene are good.
