Can I Get Veneers for Front Teeth Only?

Yes, veneers can be placed on front teeth only. Whether this is appropriate depends on your individual situation. This page explains the types of veneers available, how they are placed on front teeth, how long they last, and what they cost. Your dentist will assess your teeth and advise whether front-teeth-only veneers are clinically appropriate at your consultation.

All costs on this page are indicative. Full costs will be discussed with your dentist prior to treatment and may vary based on your individual case.

Types of Veneers

Dental veneers are custom-made shells that sit on the front surface of teeth. Several types are available.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are bonded over the front of the teeth. To attach porcelain veneers, the teeth must be prepared by removing a thin layer of enamel. This preparation is irreversible — once enamel is removed, the teeth will always require veneers or another restoration. Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 20 years depending on care and individual factors.

Composite veneers

Composite veneers use a thin resin layer applied directly to the teeth. The dentist shapes the resin to the desired form, then cures and polishes it. Composite veneers typically last 5 to 7 years, though longevity varies depending on care and lifestyle factors. Composite veneers require less tooth preparation than porcelain.

No-prep veneers

No-prep veneers are ultra-thin porcelain veneers applied directly to the teeth with minimal or no enamel removal. They are reversible in many cases. No-prep veneers typically last 5 to 10 years. They may be appropriate for covering minor chips or addressing tooth size, but are not suitable for all cases. Your dentist will advise whether no-prep veneers are realistic for your teeth.

Can I Get Veneers for Front Teeth Only?

Yes. Veneers can be placed on front teeth only to address concerns such as chips, gaps, or discolouration on specific teeth. Some patients choose to veneer only the front teeth if those are the teeth they wish to address.

Whether front-teeth-only veneers are appropriate depends on your individual case. If there are concerns across multiple teeth, your dentist may recommend treating more teeth to achieve a consistent appearance. Your dentist will assess your teeth and discuss the options at your consultation.

How Are Veneers Placed on Front Teeth?

The process varies slightly by veneer type but follows a similar structure.

Step 1 — Consultation

Your dentist assesses whether you are a suitable candidate for veneers and discusses the options. For porcelain veneers, impressions of your teeth are taken to create custom veneers.

Step 2 — Preparation

For porcelain veneers, the dentist removes a thin layer of enamel from the teeth to allow the veneers to bond and fit properly. This is an irreversible procedure. Local anaesthetic is used, though you may still experience some discomfort. Composite veneers require light preparation of the tooth surface. No-prep veneers may require light etching of the tooth surface, but this isn't always necessary.

Step 3 — Temporary veneers (porcelain veneers only)

While porcelain veneers are being fabricated, temporary veneers are placed to protect the prepared teeth.

Step 4 — Veneer placement

Porcelain veneers are bonded to the prepared teeth at a fitting appointment. Composite veneers are applied as resin directly to the teeth, shaped, cured with a light, and polished. No-prep veneers are bonded directly to the teeth.

Step 5 — Aftercare

Veneers require ongoing care. Brush and floss regularly, attend dental check-ups every six months, avoid biting hard objects (ice, pens, nails), and if you grind your teeth, discuss a night guard with your dentist. Your dentist will provide specific aftercare instructions and monitor your veneers at regular appointments.

How Long Will Front Teeth Veneers Last?

Longevity depends on the type of veneer, your oral hygiene, and individual factors. Composite and no-prep veneers typically last 5 to 7 years, though this varies. Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 20 years. Veneers are not permanent and will eventually need replacing. Your dentist will monitor their condition at regular check-ups.

How Much Do Front Teeth Veneers Cost?

All costs are indicative. Full costs will be discussed prior to treatment.

Veneers are priced per tooth. The cost depends on the type of veneer and the number of teeth being treated.

Porcelain veneers: $1,500 to $2,500 per tooth

Composite veneers: $300 to $600 per tooth

No-prep veneers: $800 to $2,000 per tooth

Your dentist will provide an exact cost during your consultation appointment. Payment plans are available through AfterPay, Humm, and Zip.

Is It Worth Having Front Teeth Veneers Only?

Whether front-teeth-only veneers are appropriate depends on your individual situation and what you want to address. If the front teeth are your only concern, treating those teeth alone may be sufficient. If there are concerns across multiple teeth, your dentist may recommend treating additional teeth to achieve a consistent appearance. Your dentist will discuss this at your consultation.

Risks of Veneer Treatment

All dental treatments carry risks. Risks of veneer treatment include tooth sensitivity during and after preparation; the irreversible removal of natural enamel during tooth preparation (for porcelain and some composite veneers), meaning the teeth will always require veneers or another restoration; the possibility of veneers chipping, cracking, debonding, or failing over time; colour mismatch between veneers and natural teeth, which may become more apparent over time; the potential need for root canal treatment on prepared teeth if the nerve is affected; and the need for eventual replacement, as veneers are not permanent.

Your dentist will discuss all risks specific to your case before treatment begins.
