Are you self-conscious about your smile?

Invisalign is a modern way to improve your smile without anyone ever knowing. It's the perfect solution for busy people who want a straighter, more confident smile without all the hassle of traditional braces. Gorgeous Smiles is an Invisalign preferred provider, meaning we have extensive experience designing and fitting Invisalign braces.

Is Invisalign Effective?

Patients are increasingly choosing Invisalign over traditional braces because of its comfort and discretion. But does Invisalign work?

In a word, yes! Invisalign is an extremely effective way for teeth straightening and achieving the smile you've always wanted. Invisalign is just as effective at correcting dental problems as traditional braces, and in some cases, even more so!

How Does Invisalign Work?

You might not even know Invisalign wearers wore aligners unless they told you. That's because Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible! But how does Invisalign work? Here are the basics:

  • Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable, BPA-free plastic that is virtually invisible when worn.

  • Each set of Invisalign aligners is custom-made to fit your teeth.

  • You will require to wear each set of Invisalign aligners for about two weeks before moving on to the next set.

  • You must visit our clinic every 6 to 8 weeks so we can check your progress and give you your next set of Invisalign clear aligners.

  • You should only remove your Invisalign clear aligners to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Other than that, you should wear them all day, every day.

  • You will see results within a few weeks of wearing Invisalign clear aligners. Your smile will continue to improve as you move through each set of aligners.

What Does Invisalign Treat?

Invisalign is a popular orthodontic treatment that you can utilize to treat a variety of dental issues. Common problems that Invisalign can treat include crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Here's how Invisalign can help correct each of these problems:

  • Crowded Teeth: Invisalign clear aligners will gradually move your teeth into place, creating more space in your mouth and eliminating the appearance of crowded teeth.

  • Gaps Between Teeth: Invisalign clear aligners can help close gaps between teeth by slowly moving them closer.

  • Overbites: An overbite is when the upper teeth bite down too far over the lower teeth. Invisalign clear aligners can help correct an overbite by slowly moving the upper teeth back and the lower teeth forward.

  • Underbites: An underbite is when the lower teeth bite down too far in front of the upper teeth. Invisalign clear aligners can help correct an underbite by slowly moving the lower teeth back and the upper teeth forward.

  • Crossbites: A crossbite is when the teeth do not line up properly when you bite down. It can cause uneven wear on the teeth and jaw pain. Invisalign clear aligners can help correct a crossbite by slowly moving the teeth into their proper position.

What doesn't Invisalign treat?

While Invisalign is an excellent way to achieve straight teeth, there are some limitations to what it can treat. Invisalign is most effective for correcting mild to moderate crowding, spacing, and/or bite problems. Severe crowding or spacing may require traditional braces to achieve the desired results. Additionally, Invisalign is not recommended for patients with complex dental or bite issues. If you are unsure whether Invisalign is right for you, schedule a consultation with an orthodontist to discuss your treatment options.

Pros and Cons of Invisalign

Now that you know how Invisalign works and what it can treat let's take a look at some of the pros and cons of this popular orthodontic treatment.

Pros

  • Invisalign is virtually invisible, which means most people won't even know you're wearing them

  • They are removable, so you can eat and drink whatever you want while also brushing and flossing your teeth.

  • They are more comfortable than traditional braces because there are no wires or brackets to irritate your mouth

  • They typically require fewer office visits than traditional braces

Cons

  • They are more expensive than traditional braces

  • They require diligent wear – if you don't wear them for the prescribed 22 hours per day, treatment will take longer

  • Some people find them difficult to remove and put back in place

  • If you have a very complex orthodontic problem, Invisalign may not be the right treatment for you

How Long Does Invisalign Take To Work?

The length of time it takes to complete Invisalign treatment depends on the severity of your dental problem. In general, treatment time ranges from 6 months to 12 months. However, some patients may require additional treatment time to achieve their desired results.

Age Limits for Invisalign

There is no age limit for Invisalign treatment. You can use Invisalign to treat dental problems in both adults and teens. However, Invisalign is not recommended for young children because their teeth are still growing and changing.

Does Invisalign hurt?

Invisalign treatment is generally very comfortable. However, you may experience minor discomfort when you first get your aligners and when your aligners are switched out for a new set. This discomfort is usually mild and goes away after a few days.

If you experience any severe pain or discomfort, contact your orthodontist.

Can You Eat and Drink With Invisalign?

Yes, you can eat and drink with Invisalign. However, it is important to remove your aligners before eating or drinking. It will help prevent staining and damage to your aligners.

Also, brushing your teeth after eating or drinking is important to avoid tooth decay and gum disease.
